Introduction

The state currently funds and pays the salaries of approximately one-third of our staff, while the remaining staff are employed and remunerated by the school. In addition, the school receives a subsidy from the Western Cape Education Department of R331 per learner per annum (equivalent to R1.66 per learner per school day).

This level of funding is insufficient to meet the operational requirements of a school of our size. In order to sustain our high standards of education, maintain our facilities, and ensure a favourable teacher-to-pupil ratio, the school is required to secure additional funding. This is achieved through the collection of school fees, as well as fundraising initiatives, rental of facilities, and sponsorships.

The continued delivery of quality education is dependent on the consistent payment of school fees by all parents. Over the past few years, approximately 80% of school fees have been collected, with the shortfall attributable to exemptions and unpaid fees. This deficit has placed increasing pressure on the school’s financial resources.

It is therefore essential that all parents meet their school fee obligations in full and on time. This collective commitment enables the school to continue providing a high standard of education and to meet the rising costs associated with delivering it.
