School Uniform

School Uniform

At their last meeting, the Governing Body discussed two items regarding the school uniform. The following decisions have been made.

Long grey pants for girls: This has been discussed on many previous occasions. It has again been decided that the wearing of longs by girls will not be permitted. Girls may wear long black stockings which we stock in the clothing shop or black ribbed stockings

Warm top: The Governing Body has approved the wearing of a warm, fleecy top.

School Uniform and Childrens' appearance

We expect the pupils to be neatly dressed at all times.  We deem pupils to be under our jurisdiction at all times when they are wearing our uniform, be it on the premises or not.

Parents are requested to co-operate in this regard and to ensure that their child's uniform conforms to the official school regulations.

ALL items of clothing must be PERMANENTLY and LEGIBLY marked using first name and surname.

Rothmans in Surrey  Street, Goodwood is our official school uniform supplier.  However, because there are no specific markings on our uniform, most items are available from most retail stores.

Girls:  Hair may not be worn loose if it touches the shoulder.  In this case, it should be tied back (plaits, ponytail). In the interest of uniformity it is advised that only one or two ponytails / plaits be worn. The fringe may not hang below the eyebrows.  Please note that hair accessories should be plain white or navy blue.  No fancy clips, grips or patterned scrunchies may be worn.

FASHIONABLE HAIRSTYLES, PERMS, GEL OR COLOURING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED FOR BOYS OR GIRLS

Nits and Lice

Infestation of hair with head lice spreads quickly amongst school children.  It is the duty of parents to be aware of this problem and to examine their child's hair regularly to prevent contamination.

Having nits or lice is not a ‘dirty illness’ and occurs everywhere amongst all social classes.

Lice occur more often in the hot summer months.  Parents should check hair regularly during these months.

Should lice or nits (eggs) be found on a pupil’s head, the pupil will be sent home and may only return to school after prescribed treatment has been carried out successfully and all traces of nits and lice are removed.

This is in accordance with health regulations.
